This is something I have on my heart to share in this difficult time we have in our world right now.
Is God Judging This World?
In connection with the Corona Virus that is currently sweeping this world, I have heard people quote scriptures and say that this is God who is angry and it is his punishment for the world and its sin. Not everyone says this directly, but some still believe that it is God who sent it and stands behind it. If the corona virus is a punishment or as a result of God’s wrath, Jesus would have died in vain.
Am I forgiven if I have forgotten to confess a sin or sins? If I have done a sin, am I only forgiven until I do next sin and have asked forgiveness for it? Does God only forgive me for the sins I have remembered to confess? Does God hear my prayers if I have not totally forgiven someone?
I know there are many Christians who are afraid that they may not be forgiven, and many think of what Jesus said in the Sermon Of the Mount in Matthew 6:15, where Jesus says that God can not forgive you until you have forgiven others (perfectly).
Is God behind hurricanes and natural disasters, or negative things that happens? Does God judge people and nations today because of sin? This is quite a hot topic and I have heard some Christian say, as an evangelist quite recently, that God sends hurricanes for punishments for sin today, even nations (this would also indirectly say that God punishes you for every sin your do, even today).
But what about what Jesus did on the cross? And what about John 3:16 and 17? What about Jesus that Jesus has forgiven all sin, for all, once and for all?
I think some mix law and grace, and the old covenant and with the new one. What did Jesus say about this? See or listen to this week’s encouragement!
