More Than 40 Have Been Baptized

A Newsletter from Tore and his family and ministry, working among people groups from Myanmar.

After three great weeks in Norway I, Tore, am back in Thailand. It is in the peak of the rainy season in Thailand now, so it was very hot and humid coming back, but it was also good to be with my family again, and our ministry out here.

There is a lot that I could have included in this newsletter, but I have chosen to just include certain highlights, testimonies and a short summary, such as: More than 40 people have been baptized in our ministry during the last two years (and that is not an exaggeration).
I post more stories, updates and photos on our Facebook Page, so feel free to like it!

Towards the end of the newsletter, I will also mention a couple of important things about financial support, such as: You are involved, or can be involved, in what God is doing out here in South East Asia, even if it is only by small amounts or in prayer!

See also a short video of the email.

She Experienced the Power of The Holy Spirit

A Newsletter from Tore and his family and ministry, working among people groups from Myanmar.

In the end of May and the beginning of June it can be challenging to be in Thailand 🇹🇭. It is the start of the rainy season, but it can also be very hot, up to 40 degrees Celsius. The showers that come only make it more humid, so the humidity can be very high at times.
We were encouraging a Christian family one evening, but they had no fan in their house and it felt a bit like a sauna in there. I was soaked when we got out.
I am very grateful for air conditioning in our own house, not many of the people we work with have that.

Since our newsletter in mid-April, four people have accepted Jesus and seven people have been baptized!

This newsletter will be about a woman who experienced the power of The Holy Spirit, baptisms again, a new Christian who received a Bible and he also had a dream etc.

I have also made a new video from the ministry. See video further down in this email!

Healing, Sixty Children and a Team

Newsletter from Tore and his family working in
Northern Thailand among the Shan people from Myanmar

We are still waiting for some colder weather here in Northern Thailand. We are in tropical regions, but it can still be relatively cold here around Christmas. The temperature in the north can drop to 8 degrees Celsius in the morning and there can be frost in the mountains around us. Because it’s a little colder, I often get a bit of a Christmas feeling around Christmas anyway, even if it’s not snowy and dark like in Norway.

I will mention several things in this newsletter, but two highlights are the story of Pi Wii who has been miraculously healed and the woman with an illness who got an experience of God’s love.

Bitten By a Snake and Four New Baptisms

Newsletter from Tore and his family working in
Northern Thailand among the Shan people from Myanmar

Here is a newsletter from a hotter and wetter parts of the world. It has rained more than normal during the rainy season this year, and there have been floods in several places, but it should be the end of the rainy season in the beginning of next month, and we hope it will rain less soon.

A lot has happened since I returned to Thailand in end of August, and it has been a busy time. It has taken me over a week to write this newsletter.

In this newsletter you can read about: Four baptisms and more have become Christians again, a constant growth in the ministry and about a poisonous snake.

I had a very good time in Norway in August and I want to say a some about in this newsletter as well.

They Lost Everything In The Flash Flood

Newsletter from Tore and his family working in
Northern Thailand among the Shan people from Myanmar

We are in a busy time right now. We have visits from a DTS team from Canada, and we also have been giving out Covid-19 relief as food to many families and individuals affected by the Covid-19 situation, which is virtually most of the people we are reaching out to.
The Covid-19 situation has worsened here in the north recently, but vaccinations are in progress.

Last week we also visited four families who lost everything in a flood.

God Is at Work In a Challenging Time

Newsletter from Tore and his family working in
Northern Thailand among the Shan people from Myanmar

It is the end of the rainy season here in northern Thailand, and the “cold” season will soon begin, with temperatures below “20 degrees” Celsius at night.

In the last three months, we haven’t done much external activity in the ministry because of increase in Covid-19 cases in Thailand. At the beginning of August, it peaked at around 23k people who got Covid-19 per day, but now it is down to 11k, some days, so it is on the right track.

Our ministry during these three months has not stopped up because of this. We have not been able to do some things, but we have had a lot of contact with people through Messenger, Facebook and telephone, and we pray for people almost every day.

There are many who are hungry for the Good News now. We have several who wants to receive Jesus, and we have also experienced people who have been healed trough prayer, but we have also experienced some challenges especially in connection with the Covid-19 situation.

An Eager New Christian and Baptism

Newsletter from Tore and his family working in Northern Thailand among the Shan people from Myanmar

Here are some news from us in Northern Thailand.
In the West, summer is just starting, while summer in Thailand is over and the rainy season has begun. The Thai school year have started too, but due to local Covid-19 outbreaks, it is home school for our children. For the same reason, we have not been able to start our weekend school

We have nevertheless been able to do a lot in the ministry. Among other things: We saw a woman in her twenties receive Jesus in May, and this month she was baptized.
You can read more about this and other news from the ministry in this newsletter.
(Remember to watch a video from the baptism!)

Great Openness and the Third Wave

Newsletter from Tore and his family working in Northern Thailand among the Shan people from Myanmar

Here in Northern Thailand, it is the hot season and summer time now and the school holidays should have soon been over, but there is a third wave of Covid-19 here, so the school start has been postponed, and we don’t know how long? This applies to both our weekend school and our three children’s schooling.

I know most people are tired of hearing about Covid-19, and we all hope that it will soon be over, so we can start planning things again, and living normally. We are also very much looking forward to that, but we are a bit behind Europe and the States when it comes to vaccination, so possible we have to wait longer?

Just before the new Covid-19 wave hit here in Thailand, we were luckily to be able to have a big and successful Easter party at our weekend school, where we experienced a great openness. There was also a woman who recently wanted to receive Jesus who was at this feast.
This newsletter will be about this, plus some news from us as a family

From Shutdown to Growth

Newsletter from Tore and his family working in Northern Thailand among the Shan people from Myanmar

About a year ago we had to shut down the weekend school and much of our
ministry because of Covid-19. Within a few months, a couple who worked
with us for almost three years also left.

We did not know how things would be when we partially started up our
ministry again in August 2020, but most of the children still came to
our weekend school even though we had closed it down for over five
months, and we had between 15-25 children until Christmas time.

This newsletter will be about growth and progress in our ministry, and about and the situation in Myanmar. Feel free to read to the end.
